Takedown and Correction Policy

How organizations take items off their public page, how people opt out, and how anyone corrects a wrong value.

Version

Draft for legal review · Version 2026-11-03. Written in plain language by the System Atlas team; it is not final and will be replaced by the reviewed text.

1.Takedowns for organizations

An organization can ask the System Atlas team to take specific public items about it off the public pages, from the Takedown link on its registry page (/registry/<ref>/takedown). Only someone who has proved an address at the organization's domain may ask: the verified owner, a person whose join request proved the address, or an owner of the claimed workspace.

  • Pick the items (parts, values or flows) and a reason: not public information, confidential, inaccurate, personal data, or other.
  • Explain, and attach evidence as links or small files.
  • The team decides and you get a notice with the decision. Approved items are hidden from every public page and from downloads; the decision is recorded on the ledger.

2.Opt-out for people

A person named on System Atlas can ask to be removed at /people/<ref>/opt-out. Approved, the person's page and every mention of them come off System Atlas. See the Privacy Policy.

3.Claiming your organization

The surest way to control your public page is to claim it: prove an address at your domain, become the verified owner, and decide what your public page shows. Verified values are marked as confirmed by the organization.

4.Corrections

Anyone signed in with a verified email can check inferred findings at /verify: confirm what matches its source, flag what is wrong, or correct it with a source. Signals are weighted by who signs (the verified owner counts most) and reviewed before a value changes. Owners can also correct their own map directly. Every value keeps its source and confidence, so a correction is visible.

6.How fast

We aim to decide takedowns, opt-outs and legal notices within 7 days, and sooner when personal data or safety is involved.
