Industry ontology
Organization types, the standards under them, and how organizations are placed.
In short
Every organization sits on one node of one tree. Universal is the root; under it, the organization types; under each type, the standard that classifies it (NAICS for companies, COFOG for governments, ICNPO for nonprofits …); under some nodes, our own segments. The industries dataset is the whole tree, and /industries browses it.
Levels
base: Universal, the root, with the schema every organization starts from.type: an organization type (Companies, Government, Nonprofits …).sectorandindustry: nodes of the type's standard, with their code.segment: ours, a finer kind of organization under the node it refines.
A node with its own published schema is a baseline; a node without one reads the nearest ancestor's. parent_key is the edge; system and code name the node in its standard; crosswalk gives its codes in others.

Placement
An organization has one primary node (organizations.industry_key) and may sit on a second branch too (a public hospital is Health first, Government second). An industry slice takes the node and every node under it, on either placement, each organization once: the same rule the registry, rankings and API count by.
