Workspaces and companies
A workspace holds a client company and its competitors; a company has an atlas.
In short
- A workspace is a private room for one piece of work: your own company, or a client you advise. It has a slug like
acme-buildersthat every tool and endpoint takes. - Inside it sits one client company (slug
client) and any number of competitors, each with their own slug. - Each company has an atlas: its components, the values on them, the edges between them and notes.
- Your agent creates your own workspace with create_my_workspace; it is idempotent, so calling it again returns the same one.
A company's atlas
What gets filled in per company. Every view renders from these same records, so a new view never needs new data entry.
- Workspace
- One client's private research space: their company, the competitors mapped for them, their people, notes and visibility settings. Workspaces are fully isolated.
- Client company
- The workspace's own company. Everything it provides starts Private.
- Competitor profile
- A company mapped from public sources for comparison. Added once by the consultant and reusable across every client in the same industry.
- Component
- How a specific company implements a primitive: the thing it actually has. A company can have several components for one primitive, components can nest, and a component with no primitive is a custom component.Example: For the primitive CRM, Acme's component is 'HubSpot'.
- Custom component
- Something a company has that matches no primitive. When several companies share one, it becomes a candidate for a new primitive in the next schema version.
- External node
- A party outside the company boundary that its components connect to.customerWho buys.supplierWho provides materials, labour or services.partnerWho the company delivers with.regulatorWho sets or enforces rules.economic_factorInterest rates, material prices, the labour market.
- Value
- A parameter filled in for one component, with its source, confidence, visibility tier and review status.
- Edge
- A connection between two components, with direction and an optional volume. Edges are what the network, flow and money views draw.moneyPayments, invoices, margin.informationDocuments, messages, records.materialPhysical goods.workTasks and hand-offs between steps.energyPower and fuel.controlApprovals, instructions, branching decisions.
- Note
- A comment on any component or on the whole company. Consultants can pin a recommendation; clients can flag a public value as wrong and give the correct one.
